Chicago’s very own The Larkin and Moran Brothers have made some great releases over the years with ‘Band of Brothers’ in 2003, and ‘Paddy’ in 2008. When I heard they were recording a new album a while back… I was waiting and waiting for their next release to add to my collection of the best in Celtic Rock. After Neal Sullivan (Fiddle/Vocals) stopped by my place and dropped me off a copy of their latest release ‘Eistigi’… I ran upstairs and popped the disc into my player, turned it up, and poured myself a Guinness. I can finally say that this is the BEST release from the The Larkin and Moran Brothers to date. I love it when I get a release that makes me feel like I’m in a pub… from “Greenland Whale Fisheries”, “The Jolly Beggarman”, “Whisky You’re The Devil”, “Muirsheen Durkin”, “MacAlpine’s Fusiliers” trad songs to some great versions of Steve Earle’s “The Galway Girl” and MacGowan’s “Back In The County Hell” to go along with some of the best originals like “Parnell Renegades”, “Another Night At Christy’s”, “Drake Street Rainbow”, and ”"The Rabble Rouser”…. makes me want to sing and clap along to each and every song. ‘Eistigi’ was well worth the wait, and is the best Traditional/Celt Rock release I’ve received in past year.
