The Galway Hooker Band, a band of paddy pub rockin’ Irish hooligans from California named after a traditional Irish fishing boat, are back with their best release yet with ‘Hooker, Hooch & Haberdash’. If you haven’t heard of this band… then I’m guessing you don’t use facebook, myspace, or any other social network site… this band is everywhere. The band consists of Paddy O’ Furniture (snarling, growling, and gargled with glass kind of vocals), Paul Bennett (Grinding guitar work with a melodic edge), Paul Wilson (Founder of the band and keeping the backbone together with his big bad bass), Jason Stout (Pounding away on the skins and making you feel every beat), Cathy Alonzo (Fiddle/Viola… damn this girl can play.), and Steve Smithrud (Adding the right mix of Mando and guitar to the mix to bring all this music together.). This Paddy Punk disc is rough, ragged, gritty, and some of the best pub rockin’ tunes that will kick you in the teeth and having you raising your pint high and singing along. If you enjoy he sounds of The Fisticuffs, The Popes, The Pubcrawlers, and Dropkick Murphys you will enjoy this Paddy Punk release!!!
